Coordinated by the Heinrich Böll foundation office based in Rabat, the program transformAfrica was officially launched in November 2017 following a conference on socio-ecological transformations in Africa hold in Rabat. The program has been set up for a period of three years.

However, over the past decades and even centuries, these various countries or regions, which are rich of natural resources, have also been the center of tensions or even conflicts between various groups of actors that are directly involved with the extraction and or processing of such resources.

TransformAfrica is a multi-annual program promoting a participatory, just and sustainable socio-ecological transformation in Africa. The program is managed by the Rabat office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and supported by a variety of civil society actors from different African countries
